Dear Nina Hou ( a senior in Arcadia HIgh School):
Now I am a pathway freshman in PCC. As you know, every transfer students should be enrolled in this program, which is very helpful to build all kinds of abilities that a college student should have. Before we start our course, we had a one week math jam that let us preview and review some math knowledge and also introduce ourselves to other friends and realize something important about our school, which is an excellent activity!
The Pathway couches are also very careful and helpful, they always gives us many advice about our majors and career information, actually every students had appointments with them and planed their schedule, but we only can be enrolled in one year, you should treasure your limit time and use your resources the school has provided.
Also for the college 1 class, every transfer students must have that course, which is like an intermediary to the university we are willing to go. We did reading, communication, lecture and conferences. We should finish two books which are Southland and Switch; I like those books because of its meaningful and interesting. As a college student, we can’t only read it; we should do Response Journal and Double Entry Journal, also for preparing our conference at the end of the semester. We did poster about the stuff that connect to Southland, which is the highlight of our program and also my most challenge work, but I think the most exciting part is the lecture by Nina Revoyr, the author of Southland, her words touches me for a lot, and also gives me the direction of your life and confident attitude.
Welcome you to join in Pathway Program, hope you can enjoy it!
Best
Aileen Li
